2006 : Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs

The Story

Princess Snow White is a beautiful young girl who lives with her wicked stepmother, Queen Griselda, in the Kingdom of Maurania. One day, Prince Richard of Ruvania arrives in the Kingdom; he is looking for someone to become his wife.

The Queen has a magic mirror that tells her that she is the most beautiful person in the land, until one day the mirror tells her that in fact Snow White has become the most beautiful. The wicked Queen then sends Snow White deep into the forest. However, the Prince has already fallen in love with Snow White and sets off to rescue her.

Meanwhile in the forest, Snow White meets the forest animals and then the Seven Dwarfs, who looks after her. Queen Griselda is determined to find Snow White to prevent her from marrying Prince Richard. She disguises herself as an old woman and tricks Snow White into eating a poisoned apple. Snow White falls into a deep sleep and the Dwarfs are very sad. However, when Prince Richard finds the Dwarf's cottage, he kisses Snow White and she awakens from the deep sleep.

Once again, good overcomes evil!

NODA Critique

A new version of the old favourite specially written for the Frodsham Panto Group by producer Barbara Maddock brought together the usual characters of the seven vertically-challenged individuals vigorously portrayed by junior dancers and Snow White, charmingly portrayed by Rebecca Cullen.

A real live male principal boy, David Brow, added to the originality of the script and he, together with the good Fairy Belle delightfully played by Grace Rimmer, thwarted the intentions of the evil Queen Griselda dramatised in true pantomime style by Carol Crooks.

Roy Hayes as Muddles supplied the comedy and combined nicely with Rosemary Merry as Snow White's companion, Miss Ermintrude.

The principal line-up was completed by Simon Crooks in a variety of roles and Graham Lees as Hubert the Huntsman, who could not do the dastardly deed of disposing of Snow White.

The wardrobe department had pulled out all the stops to ensure that the show was well-costumed.

Light and sound was good and the scenes were well set.

A good tempo was maintained throughout and the dance routines were a highlight.

A good evening's entertainment by this specialist panto group who never fail to please.
